Westside entrepreneur, Jeff Leit, has been engaged in innovative enterprises ever since he graduated from college. When a friend of his used a map leading customers to his tailor shop- the idea of the Walking Map and directory was born and the Trends Media Group was founded. More than 12 years and 700 contracts later, Leit can bank on a successful small business with recurring profits.

The best facet of this enterprise is the personal connection Leit cultivates with his clients. His is a one man show; he controls what goes into the maps and how they are marketed.

Each one is a treasure trove of information. Glossy, colorful, packed with dining and shopping information. The fold out maps have become a necessity for people on the go.

The maps are filled with colorful display ads and directory of listings that correspond to the map.

Leit said the maps are updated a couple of times a year and all information is checked for accuracy. Well over a half a million maps are distributed annually in the regions finest hotels, CVBs, and other outlets.

“We limit display advertising, so participants receive increased visibility, he explained” The maps are free to consumers, easy to carry and refold.

Some of the most frequented shopping and Dining hotspots covered by the Los Angeles based Trends include Beverly Hills, rodeo Drive, Montana Avenue, Catalina Island, Sunset and Melrose, Old Pasadena and Long Beach.

Leit who started with the mom and pop shops worked his way up to the exclusive designer stores and restaurants catering to highly affluent visitors.

Ad space on his latest map, Montana avenue, sold out in 4 weeks and there is a waiting list to get into the next issue.
